The West Australian Government has released a 10- year plan for the West Australian Screen sector. The strategy, launched by Minister Templeman and produced by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural industries contains the following Vision statement.
"Western Australia has a world-renowned screen industry showcasing exceptional creative content and stories to the world. Government and industry align to create new highly skilled jobs, attract investment and activity to grow and diversify our economy, and enrich our cultures and our people." The strategy is organised around the pillars of Enabling a screen friendly WA, growing opportunities through Production incentives, developing required Infrastructure, both metropolitan and regional and building capacity and capability in the screen Workforce across a diverse range of platforms. The Women in Print Breakfast Series is an annual event hosted in cities across Australia featuring an inspirational keynote speaker and giving women working in the sector a rare chance to come together.

The Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training has released, Shared vision, equal pathways: report of the inquiry into the perceptions and status of vocational education and training.
The report which was produced in the context of other reform processes including the Employment White Paper, the National Skills Agreement, and the Australian Universities Accord, contains 34 recommendations designed to address poor perceptions of the sector and enhance the quality of and access to VET pathways. The Initial Workforce Plan for the manufacturing sector, including Print, is now available from Jobs and Skills Council the Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (MISA). The report identifies poor completion rates for apprentices in the manufacturing industries, and MISA have established a project in response that seeks to build an understanding of the factors that lead to low rates of completion in order to formulate strategies that increase the pipeline of apprentices.

The state Government is encouraging Western Australians to take advantage of a free pre-employment pathway that guides them into administrative and customer service jobs quickly to help meet the State's workforce needs.
The Digital Workplace Job Ready program provides training in organising data and records, producing documents and the use of different software applications. The program is designed to develop participants' confidence and ensure they are job ready for a wide range of business support roles. The program is delivered at North Metropolitan TAFE under the banner of its Koomba Birdal (Big Spark) program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Students are supported throughout their training by NM TAFE's Koolark Centre and the NM TAFE Jobs and Skills Centre. On completion of the course, students will be connected with opportunities to transition into employment. The program engages with employers, who have the opportunity to host a work placement student with the objective to transition into a traineeship.
