The Australian tech sector is in crisis and it’s set to intensify with AI. That’s the key message from the Australian Computer Society’s Digital Pulse 2023 report, which also found artificial intelligence will disrupt up to 90 per cent of Australian jobs. To tackle the impending crisis, ACS proposes a National Digital Skills Strategy including a skills-first education and training initiative; a national skills platform; more support for career transitions towards a tech-orientated career; programs to boost participation by women; and assisting skilled migrants to utilise their capabilities.

Prospective students can explore over 1,000 courses on the new TAFE website that are specifically designed to cater to their career and study objectives. The website hosts short films that offer a glimpse into the lives of TAFE students. The brand campaign positions TAFE as leader in achieving life changing outcomes for individuals and features more than 30 WA TAFE students who are completing VET qualifications, giving them skills to get ahead and excel in their chosen career. The campaign was filmed on location at each of the five TAFE colleges throughout WA, and showcases the diverse range of study areas as well as the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities available. Music tracks for the campaigns were also created by TAFE students. ‘TAFE: Be More’ specifically aims to inspire Western Australians to enrol at TAFE to progress their training and career opportunities – regardless of where they live or the barriers they may face. Applications are now open for the 2024 Western Australian intake of sports traineeships with AFL Sportsready. Applications close Sunday 26th November 2023. A traineeship offers the opportunity to be paid while gaining practical workplace experience.

WTTC is the global authority on tourism and its members include over 200 CEOs, Chairpersons, and Presidents of companies such as Emirates, Etihad Airlines, Hilton Group, Visa, and Expedia. The annual WTTC summit will take place in October 2024, and spotlight WA as an emerging global leader in travel, tourism and trade. More information about World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Latest research from the Tourism & Transport Forum (Australia's peak industry group for the Australian tourism, transport and aviation sectors) has found that the South West region of WA has experienced the biggest growth in popularity in regional tourism across the country since the pandemic.
The biggest growth in visitors to the South West was among middle-aged Australians aged 30-64, with visitation nearly 19 per cent above pre-COVID levels, followed by Australians over 65 with a 15 per cent increase, then young people under 30 with an eight per cent increase. Among WA residents, the greatest surge in popularity was for the North West region, with visitation nearly 37 per cent above pre-COVID levels. The latest statistics from the Australian Cruise Association highlight that more than 150 cruise ships have visited Western Australia and injected over $333 million into WA economy in 2022-23.
The State's cruise sector created more than 1,000 jobs for the state. The upcoming cruise season kicks off with the arrival of the Coral Princess on Saturday, 11 November, bringing 2,000 passengers into the Port of Fremantle. In 2023-24, cruise ships will visit WA more than 140 times across WA's seven active ports at Albany, Busselton, Broome, Esperance, Exmouth, Fremantle and Geraldton. The "Drive the Dream" campaign invites travellers to explore Western Australia as the ultimate destination for a self-drive holiday, and follows Ricciardo and his best mate Blake on their roadtrip from Perth to Exmouth along the Coral Coast Highway.
The campaign launched in Singapore last week. Singapore is home to the Singapore Grand Prix F1 Night Race and has many F1 and Daniel Ricciardo fans. Singapore was WA’s second largest international market in 2019, with many Singaporeans interested in road trip holidays and exploring WA regions. THEATRE 180 produces heritage theatre productions that tell the stories of key figures and events in Western Australia’s history in a range of styles. It tours extensively throughout the state, appealing to a wide demographic. The company use oral and recorded histories to bring the past to contemporary audiences and Executive Director Rebecca Davis in accepting the award said that THEATRE 180 'believe passionately in the importance of understanding our past in order to reflect on the present and thereby dream our future.'
