A Sizzle Reel and Look Book have been released by Screenwest as part of the launch of a $20m Production Attraction Fund, showcasing WA's spectacular and versatile filming locations across our regions, and metropolitan Perth. The Fund builds on a range of financial incentives designed to attract world-class productions to Western Australia, including the WA Regional Screen Fund and the WA Post-Production, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.
Minister for Culture and the Arts, the Hon David Templeman said "An increase in funded productions will provide skills development and training opportunities for local screen practitioners, while helping to unlock the Federal Location Incentive Program. Creating a pipeline of WA productions will increase the capability and capacity of the local industry and suppliers, ahead of the delivery of the proposed state-of-the-art film studio and screen production facility." The state government has announced a $3.9 million package to fund tourism and hospitality workforce initiatives over the next two years.
The funding will support a series of job-ready skills training courses with StudyPerth for international students and initiatives targeting working holiday makers to leverage the returning pool of workers in these markets. Tourism and hospitality will be promoted as a rewarding career through activity such as the Chef Ambassador in-school hospitality demonstration program delivered by Hospitality Group Training, and an annual program of in-school tourism career information sessions will also support longer-term initiatives aimed at encouraging young people to consider careers in tourism and hospitality and creating a sustainable pipeline of local skilled workers. The campaign will aim to help attract hospitality and tourism workers from interstate and New Zealand to work and live in WA. More information about: Discover the Other Side The The Commonwealth government has released an Issues Paper outlining topics to be addressed at the Jobs and Skills summit to be held in Canberra on September 1st and 2nd. The paper describes maintaining full employment, the role of education and training, skilled migration and workforce participation as key areas to be addressed by the 100 invited delegates from government, civil society and employer and union groups.
